Description
This London-based club brand has been transported to Dubai and had a restaurant plopped into it. There’s an awkwardness to the dining area of this lounge-club-bar hybrid – the bar is sidled uncomfortably between a clunky support pillar and the kitchen door, which swings open every three minutes blinding unfortunately-placed guests with the luminous glare from the kitchen. Lighting aside, Amika serves an impressive range of Italian classics under the ‘traditional’ half of the menu, with contemporary versions of same dishes listed in its ‘modern’ section (green tea scampi with gold-flake balsamic vinegar). Results are varied. While Amika wants to be the Italian Okku, there’s still some work to do before it finds the balance between great food and London-lounge chic.More Details
